A Restless Knight
A Restless Knight
by Deborah MacGillivray

Best Historical of the Year!

A Restless Knight is one of the best books I have read this year. It is a totally beautiful and amazing book and a must read for fans of Scottish and Medieval historical romance. The story is totally captivating, the characters so alive, written in such depth, the research is flawless, and takes place in one of the most interesting periods in the history of England and Scotland; the period of Edward I (Longshanks) and the early rebellion period of William Wallace that eventually brings Robert the Bruce to Scotland's throne. Norman Knight, The Black Dragon, Lord Julian Challon, is to do his duty for King Edward and marry Lady Tamlyn MacShane, and thus become the Lord of Glenrogha, securing her lands for the English crown. The beautiful and earthy Tamyln, while understandably rebellious to this idea, is drawn to the dark, handsome, troubled Challon. Challon is likewise drawn to Tamyln. He feels immediate lust and stuggles with a past that is filled with death, destruction, and pain that prevents him from truly recognzing his true feelings of love for Tamyln. This sensual relationship and their struggle with love, the land, and its people, together with the Scottish folk lore and magic, puts the reader in a spell to the point where you cannot put the book down. It is truly a magical story. The Beltane ceremony is breathtaking. You will laugh and cry and be so involved with the characters that you actually feel you are there. The secondary characters (sisters, brothers, cousins, friends) are as alive as the main characters. What is most important about this story is that it did not abruptly end and leave the reader wanting. It finishes well and the reader knows that yet another story is on the way to take them back to this magical place. Deborah MacGillivrary is an author that is destined to be on the book shelves of romance fans for generations to come. bhi se' go hiontach! (It was great!)
