by John Podgursky
Edward Caine’s world changed the day he found the
body. His wife, Jill, was the victim of the Solemn Stalker and the
aftermath has led him to a huge realization. Edward is one of THE ONE
PERCENTERS, someone destined to help ease the process of evolution by
eliminating those deemed to be flawed mutations. How far will Edward’s
obsessions take him as he assumes his role as one of THE ONE PERCENTERS?
THE ONE PERCENTERS is a brilliant, often disturbing, look into the mind
of a killer. The first person narrative is a bit surprising, as frankly
the exploits of a repeat killer are not sympathetic. Surprisingly,
however, John Podgursky draws the reader into this dark tale of a mind
disintegrating and leaves the reader with a sense of sadness. Don’t
misunderstand me- Edward’s tale is horrifying to say the least!
Embedded in the shocking exploits of Edward, though, is a small kernel
of lost hope as Edward himself is a victim of the Solemn Stalker.
Edward is a complex and troubling figure. His complete lack of
understanding of basic human emotions and societal expectations, along
with a generous dose of grandiosity, makes his tale both compelling and
bleak. His rambling narrative tells a gripping story of a lost love
while showing just how far a mind can fragment in the wake of tragedy.
John Podgursky has written a thriller that shocks, disturbs, and yes,
entertains the reader. Brilliantly done!
