The Iron Queen
The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa
by Julie Kagawa

This review contains potential spoilers from THE IRON DAUGHTER and THE IRON KING. Please read those two books for the history.

Meghan Chase and Ash have been exiled from the world of Faery for refusing to deny their love for one another. Settling back into the human world sounds like a difficult task but one they are willing to do… except the world of Faery isn’t yet done with Meghan. Will Meghan, Ash, and Puck survive the battle that is to come?

THE IRON QUEEN is the third book in a series and is best appreciated within the context of that series. However, Julie Kagawa does provide a quick recap for readers who want to jump into this third book.

Julie Kagawa has crafted a fascinating world as she incorporates the Iron fey more and more into the storyline. I like the twist she takes with the world of Faery in this latest installment. Unfortunately, the story itself doesn’t seem to develop as quickly or as well as in the first two books. Rather, there seem to be bits and pieces dangling that never fully develop or drag on just a bit. The romantic angle is starting to become annoying rather than sweet or even a tense triangle whereas the storyline with Meghan’s dad seems unfinished. However, the conclusion leaves me with some hope that the characters will begin to grow a bit more with the next installment.
