In the Arms of Stone
Angels
by Jordan Dane
Brenna’s
world became a nightmare two years ago, a nightmare that she and her
mom fled from Oklahoma to avoid. But now her mom wants her to go back
to Oklahoma… back to where her best friend and accused murderer, White
Bird, now remains locked in a mental institution. However, things are
not as they seem and Brenna may have to reveal her secret ability to
see the dead if she is to help White Bird and right the wrongs of the
past.
Brenna is a fascinating character, torn between the image others see
and the caring heart she tries to keep hidden. Some of the situations
Brenna and her mom, Kate, face are pretty dark as Jordan Dane touches
on a plethora of touchy subjects. Shawano, Oklahoma is a town full of
treachery and teenage pitfalls… and Brenna has been used to being the
victim of it all. Seeing her misery transform as she stands up for what
she believes in and begins to uncover what really happened the night
White Bird was found with a murdered girl is uplifting, even as the
full extent of the darkness becomes apparent.
Jordan Dane mixes the paranormal with a solid murder mystery to produce
one fantastic read! From the world building to the characters, every
aspect of the story works together to gradually heighten the tension.
The small town of Shawano, Oklahoma, offers a microcosm of bigotry,
bullying, and ignorance- and yet there are shades of caring and hope
underlying the darkness. Brenna’s determination not to give up, even as
she wants to, makes IN THE ARMS OF STONE ANGELS a compelling story.
