The Heart Surgeon’s Baby Surprise
The Heart Surgeon’s Baby Surprise by Meredith Webber

Grace Sutherland is working at Jimmie’s Children’s Unit for the next six months.  However, her job as a pediatric surgeon isn’t her only goal as Grace has a Grand Plan.  Theo Corones catches her eye but is he willing to help her with her plan of having a baby?  Can a man afraid of love find it with a woman as blunt and socially awkward as Grace?

Grace is a very unique character, one that it takes awhile to warm to.  Her social awkwardness is a direct contrast to both her name and her professional appearance.  As a pediatric surgeon, she is stellar but when it comes to social chit-chat, often the result is a faux pas. Admittedly, characters like Grace are usually ones that leave me cringing, embarrassed for them with every gaffe that occurs.  However, in the hands of a gifted author like Meredith Webber, a character like Grace is given a chance to blossom into her name.  Her awkward moments are tempered by Theo’s own reactions, giving the reader a place to channel their own thoughts of astonishment at her reactions and comments.  Through Theo’s eyes, we see Grace as she relaxes and reveals the inner beauty hiding from others.  What an incredible gift from Ms. Webber!

THE HEART SURGEON’S BABY SURPRISE also indirectly brings up the issue of gossip and the damage that miscommunication can cause, even inadvertently. Meredith Webber does a beautiful job at incorporating this element into the plotline as she crafts one of the most unique romances I’ve read in awhile.  Reading a tale by Meredith Webber is always a pleasure and THE HEART SURGEON’S BABY SURPRISE is no exception!
