The Doomsday Key

by James Rollins
Conspiracies
abound and the Sigma team has only a limited amount of time to stop a
worldwide catastrophe from occurring. The Guild has a diabolical plan
and the only clues Sigma has are a series of victims all marked with a
pagan symbol. What is the connection between the destruction of a
refugee camp, the death of a priest, and a book called the Doomsday
Book?
James Rollins excels at weaving together fact and fiction to produce
high energy thrillers. THE DOOMSDAY KEY is no exception! The pace never
relents as the members of the Sigma Force are in a race against time
where enemies can just as easily turn into allies, and vice versa. The
stakes are never higher as James Rollins ramps up the tension with each
new revelation.
THE DOOMSDAY KEY is the sixth book in the Sigma Force series and can be
read as a stand alone. James Rollins does an excellent job at
introducing the characters (and there are quite a few of them, as one
might expect) and showing their past histories and relationships with
one another. I suspect, however, that a reader already immersed in the
series would appreciate some of the nuances of the tale a tad more than
someone new to the series, if only because of the conflicted
relationships with characters like Seichan.
THE DOOMSDAY KEY is a dramatic adventure tale, blending together
conspiracy theories from the past and present to create a horrifying
scenario. James Rollins is absolutely brilliant at taking seemingly
unbelievable situations and theories and making them seem plausible.
The plot is stunning in its diabolical audacity but impossible to put
down. Superb!!
