Confessions of a Compact Camera
Shooter

by Rick Sammon
Cameras
come in all shapes and sizes. Rick Sammon has written a book geared
towards those owning compact cameras, not to be confused with the
“point and shoot” cameras or the digital SLRs. Tips are provided to
readers on topics such as composing shots, selecting ISO, and the
difference between JPEG and RAW for shooting photos.
Photographers will also get a few tips on programs and plug-ins to use
to enhance their photos.
CONFESSIONS OF A COMPACT CAMERA SHOOTER is an excellent book for an
amateur photographer looking for inspiration as it covers some of the
basics. This is not an in-depth guide but rather one that provides some
general ideas and concepts to showcase the value of the compact camera
and its various features. Rick Sammon provides examples to compare
photos taken by digital SLRs to those of the compact camera, giving
credence to his perspective that either camera type can produce quality
photos.
Rick Sammon covers a lot of information in a short amount of pages,
especially considering the vast amount of photos he provides to make
his points. This makes the information a bit limited in scope and
detail but provides a good starting point for photographers who are
curious enough to explore what options their camera provides.
