Amelia Bedelia's First Valentine

by
Herman Parish
Illustrated by Lynne Avril
Valentine’s
Day is here and Amelia Bedelia is excited about it! Hearts are all
around her as she gets her cards ready for school. What surprises and
mishaps will be in store for the very literal-minded, Amelia Bedelia on
Valentine’s Day?
The Amelia Bedelia books have been beloved by readers since first
started by Herman Parish’s aunt, Peggy Parish. Herman Parish captures
that same innocence and delight as in the original series. Bright vivid
illustrations accompany the often humorous misadventures. What a joyous
reminder of the books of my own youth!
Amelia Bedelia is famous for her misinterpretations of things as
children tend to be concrete thinkers. Exploring the various meanings
of phrases such as “wearing your heart upon your sleeve” teaches
children how to think more along the abstract while showing them it’s
okay to ask if they don’t understand something. AMELIA BEDELIA'S FIRST
VALENTINE is an excellent Valentine’s Day book that is sure to contain
some teachable moments!
