A Mommy For Christmas
by Caroline Anderson
4.5 Stethoscopes
Consultant
General Surgeon Kate Burgess has high
expectations of her
staff and her new employee is off to a bad start! James McEwan is
late after failing to turn in a form and Kate is concerned that this
sort of forgetfulness could cause problems on the job. James has
a lot on his hands, however, as he’s raising two children, Freya and
Rory, on his own and struggling to keep it together. Will Santa
bring Freya and Rory A MOMMY FOR CHRISTMAS?
A MOMMY FOR CHRISTMAS is a bittersweet story that shows the healing
process so perfectly. James and his struggles are not unique as
Caroline Anderson captures the pain and anguish families face following
an unexpected death. The depth of emotion is almost overwhelming
as readers will experience moments of dark depression and sadness as
well as happiness and joy. The setting of Christmas makes A MOMMY
FOR CHRISTMAS particularly poignant as holidays are such a difficult
time when grieving.
A MOMMY FOR CHRISTMAS is an unusual romance as the hero and his
children are still dealing with their loss. Kate’s reactions are
believable, both as she questions James’ commitment to the job as well
as her desire to help the family. Caroline Anderson carefully
paces the story so the reader can see the natural growth of the
characters as they cope with their changing circumstances. Bravo,
Ms. Anderson, for painting such a vivid image of the grief and healing
process!
